Headteacher’s Comments

Next week the Outside Gym equipment will be installed where the netball posts are currently.  It should take three days.  Please make sure any younger siblings are careful before and after school.

I would like to extend a warm welcome to Mrs Johnson who will be joining our school next week.  Mrs Johnson will be working in the office every morning as our new Attendance Officer.

Whole School Trip

Following the success of last year’s trip, I am pleased to announce the details of this year’s whole school trip to Windsor Castle.

Date:                Tuesday 1 May 2011

Time                 8:30am to 5:00pm

Cost                 £10

Clothing            Full school uniform (coat if cold and damp/sunhat if hot)

Food                Packed lunch brought in school bag

The total cost of the trip is £3,780 (£16.65 per child).  We have managed to secure some funding.  Therefore, we are asking for every child to pay £10 towards the trip.  If you have a problem with paying this, please arrange to speak to me.

This £10 includes the cost of the coach, entry to Windsor Castle and a workshop for each class led by a member of staff at Windsor Castle.  You may pay in one instalment of £10 or two instalments of £5.

Spanish Club

Mrs May’s Spanish Club will start again on Monday 23 January at 8:15am and will run until Monday 12 March.  There is no cost to this club.

Theatre Trip

This is a reminder that the remaining balance for the PTA-organised trip to Shrek: The Musical is due by 27 January.  Details of the trip will be given out in my newsletter on 27 January.

Bags2Bag Fundraising

You will soon be receiving a plastic bag, similar to ones that come through your front door.  The PTA will earn money for every kilogram of clothes it collects.  These need to be returned to school by Wednesday 1 February.

Parent Governor

At the end of November Steve Gilbert’s term of office came to an end.  Over the past four years Steve has been a very hardworking governor and as Chair of the Curriculum Committee has a very sound understanding of how the school works and how to support the school in its journey to become Outstanding.  Steve has told me he is willing to continue as a Parent Governor.  However, I am obliged to open up nominations (bureaucracy at its worse!).  If there are any other nominations, there will be an election.  If not, Steve will continue as a Parent Governor.  Please complete the nomination form below and return it to the school office by Monday 30 January.
