As part of our democracy week, Year 5 and 6 School Councillors and I visited Essex County Hall yesterday for a conference. It was a very enjoyable day and we learnt how to deal with a budget and role of local Councils.

Secondary School Applications for September 2016 – Reminder for Year 6 Parents
We have been asked by Essex County Council to remind parents of Year 6 children that the closing date for applications for a secondary school place from September 2016 is 31 October 2015. Applications can be made via the ECC website www.essex.gov.uk/admissions. I would encourage all parents to use all the choices to increase the likelihood of a chosen school being allocated. I am unable to write any letters to support an appeal.
School photographer (19 October)
The school photographer will be in school on Monday, 19 October to take individual photographs of Junior School children. Any child with a sibling/siblings in the Junior or Infant School will also have a group photograph taken. If you wish family groups with children not at the Junior or Infant School, please bring the children to the office at 8:30am.
Harvest Festival (19 October 2pm – NEW DATE!)
Our Year 4 children have been busy working on our Harvest Festival Assembly to showcase the work we have been doing on our current topic of ‘Harvest’. Family and friends are invited to watch the assembly at 2pm. We have, in the past, collected food items for a local charity and this year our chosen charity is the local Foodbank. We would like to continue this tradition, as last year our two schools together donated over 2 tonnes of food to be distributed. If you would like to contribute gifts of tinned food or packets of non-perishable goods, these would be welcome from any child in the school from Monday 12th October. Thank you!
Well done to all the children who took part in the first round of the Spelling Bee competition.
