Newsletter: 5 July 2013

Headteacher’s Comments

The sun is finally arriving!  Please make sure that your child is ready for the sun.  Please make sure you apply sun tan lotion in the morning, your child has a sun hat and brings in a water bottle every day.

Achievements

Well done to Kirena Nolan and Nilgun Halim (Mrs Westney/Mrs Cromwell’s Class) who received Green Cards this week.

Attendance

Well done to Mrs Watson’s class who had the best attendance for the second week running.

Requesting Holiday

I have received a number of holiday requests for September.  I am unable to authorise any holidays in September.

I am also having a number of requests saying family members have ‘booked a surprise holiday for the family.’  You have been informed of the holiday dates up until July 2014 since 8 February 2013.  These have been on the newsletter every week since (a copy of which is on the school website).  Please make sure you inform relatives of these dates so the ‘surprise’ is taken in school holidays.

Taking holiday when it has not been approved may result in Essex County Council issuing both parents with a £60 fine each, rising to £120 if not paid within 21 days.

Library Books

This is a reminder that all library books should now have been returned to the library.  If your child’s library book is lost then a charge will be incurred.

Bags to School (9 July)

You should have received your ‘Bags 2 School’ sack this week.  Last time the school’s PTA raised £230 from all the clothes that were collected.  This is a great way to support the school’s PTA without costing you a penny!  Please support this event and return your sack by Tuesday 9 July.

Homework Questionnaire (12 July)

In the Governors’ Newsletter this week they were asking for feedback on the school’s Homework Policy.  This was the area that most parents were unhappy with when they returned the annual Governors’ Questionnaire in May.  Please take a few minutes to answer the questions and return, so we can use your views to update the policy.

Homework Club (Tuesday 16 July)

The last Homework Club will be on 16 July 2013.  Homework Club will then restart in September.

Meet the Teacher Evening (Thursday 5 September 7pm)

Advance notice that our ‘Meet the Teacher’ evening is on Thursday 5 September starting at 7.00pm.  This is your chance to meet your child’s new teacher and hear what your child will be getting up to next year.

District Sports

Well done to everyone who participated in the District Sports.  Congratulations to Jay Robinson who won the Ball Throwing competition.

We have a baby!

Congratulations to Miss Gordon and her partner on the birth of their baby daughter, who was born last Friday weighing 7lb 8oz.
