Welcome back! I hope you all had an enjoyable and safe summer. It was a pleasure seeing the children look so smart in proper school uniform over the past three days. Please keep this up! Sorry for the smaller text, but there are a lot of reminders about the school’s procedures and dates in this newsletter so please keep this somewhere safe. Thank you to the 80 parents who came to the ‘Meet the Teachers’ Meeting’ last night. I hope you found it informative.
Our school’s Breakfast Bar is open from 8:10am every morning. Parents and children are welcome. A slice of toast is 30p and drinks are 40p.
Snack at Break Times
This is a reminder that only fruit and vegetables are allowed for snack during morning break.
I will be holding coffee mornings next week for parents and carers. Please join Ms Cromwell, Mrs Ferris and myself in the school’s dining room at 9:00am.
Our next PTA meeting is on Monday (12 September) at 9am. The main item will be final preparations for our school’s Autumn Fair.
Our School’s PTA is organising our very first Autumn Fair on Saturday 24 September. Please keep the date free and encourage friends and family to attend. The main attraction is a climbing wall – fun for all the family! All money raised will be going towards improving the facilities in the playground.
If your child takes medication, please hand it in to the school office and sign the appropriate form. Please make sure that any medication, especially asthma pumps and epi-pens, are in date.
School dinners remain at £1.90 a day (£9.50 a week) for either a hot meal or school-prepared packed lunch. If you are supplying a packed lunch please make sure there are no’ block’ chocolate items included and crisps are only allowed on Fridays.
Stars in Their Eyes
Stars in Their Eyes will take place on Friday 25 November. Auditions will take place in mid-September. Like last year, your child will be expected to know all the words to their song at auditions, so hopefully they have been practising it over the summer holidays.
Miss Biggs’s Class Swimming
The parents of the children in Miss Biggs’s Class would have received an email today regarding swimming next Thursday. Please make sure your children have the correct swimming kit, towel and £1. Any parents who are able to walk down (we leave at 9:30am and return at 11:00am) please speak to someone in the office before Wednesday.
Mrs Leys’s Sponsored Walk
Mrs Leys is a member of a charity that raises money for schools in Guyana. In previous years the school has supported this charity by sending our old chairs, tables and IT equipment to equip primary schools. Mrs Leys is doing a sponsored walk this Saturday. Any parents who wish to sponsor Mrs Leys please return the slip below.
Homework Club begins next Tuesday (13 September), from 3.15 – 4.15pm.
There are 5 vacancies on the school governing body for parent governors. Parent governors play an important role as members of the governing body, which is responsible for directing the conduct of the school and for assisting the school in moving from ‘Good’ to ‘Outstanding’. The term of office for parent governors is 4 years. Training is available for all governors. If you would like to stand for election, please complete the nomination form at the bottom of the sheet and return it to the school no later than Monday 26 September. If there are more than 5 nominated parents, an election will take place. If there are any further questions, please feel free to speak with me or Mrs Cromwell.
