Food in School
Milk – All children up to the age of 5 receive free milk daily. On turning 5, if you wish your child to continue to have milk daily you will need to pay for the milk by visiting the website http://www.coolmilk.com/
Early Years and Key Stage 1 Snack – Every child in nursery, reception, year 1 and year 2 receives a daily portion of fruit or vegetable.
Key Stage 2 Tuck Shop – The school runs a successful school tuck shop that offers a wide range of fruit (25p) and water (40p). Only fruit and vegetables are allowed at break times.
School Lunches – School meals consist of a daily choice between two hot options as well as a packed lunch. The children choose which option they are going to eat each day during morning registration.
School lunches are prepared and cooked on the premises and are in line with current Government guidelines.
Children in reception, year 1 and year 2 are entitled to universal free school meals. The current daily cost of a school meal for children in years 3, 4, 5 and 6 is £2.10, payable through SIMS Agora, the school’s on-line payment system. Please click here to access SIMS Agora
Packed Lunches – If your child chooses to have a home-prepared packed lunch, please do not include fizzy drinks, glass bottles, sweets or block chocolate products and please label the lunch box clearly.
No Nuts Policy – As we have several children in our school who suffer from severe nut allergies, we have a ‘No Nuts’ policy in terms of packed lunches and snacks brought in from home. Those pupils with allergies who come in to contact with a nut product can suffer potentially life-threatening consequences. It can be as simple as holding hands, or even the touching of a table if another child had been eating a nut based product at that place.
We would ask that you do not provide the following foods in your child’s packed lunch / snack box:
- Fruit and cereal bars which contain nuts
- Sesame seed rolls
- Peanut butter
- Cakes made with nuts
- Muesli bars
- Baklava / Nougat / Turkish Delight
- Any types of nuts
Please check all labelling on food and if you are not sure, please leave it out.
Water Bottles – All children must bring a named water bottle in every day. The school has a water fountain where children can fill up their bottles.
