Happy New Year! I hope you all enjoyed the festive session and you had some time to relax. This term we welcome Mrs Haslehurst, who has joined us as a Year 5 Class Teacher and Danica Griffin, who is running our school Breakfast Bar. We also have 3 trainee teachers, who are working alongside Mrs Watson, Mrs Sach and Miss Biggs this half term.

Parent Classes (13 January- 1:30pm)
I have managed to re-arrange the maths classes for parents. These will start next Monday 13 January 2014. Please complete the tear-off slip overleaf if you wish to attend.
Club Española (20 January 8:15am)
Mrs May’s Spanish Club will be on Monday 20 and 27 January, 3, 10 and 24 February and 3, 10 and 17 March. It is open to all children and starts at 8:15 and will be in the ICT Suite. There is no cost to this club.
Coffee Mornings (Year 3/4- Mon 27 January/ Year 5/6- Wed 29 January- both starting at 9am)
This term’s coffee mornings will be on Monday 27 and Wednesday 29 January. Coffee Mornings give you an opportunity to hear current developments at school and also to hear your feedback about how the school is working. If you can’t make your particular year group day, please feel free to come on another day. Nans and Granddads are also welcome. You will get an exciting FREE GIFT!!!
Dads’ drink with Mr Woollcott (Tues 28 January at Volunteer Pub starting at 7pm)
I would like to take Dads out for a drink on Tuesday 28 January. We will be meeting at the Volunteer at 7pm. This is a chance for Dads to hear current developments at school and also to hear their feedback about how the school is working. You will get an exciting FREE GIFT!!!
Bags2Bag Fundraising (29 January)
The Bags2Bag sacks have been given out alongside this newsletter. We will earn 50p for every 1kg. Please return these to school by Wednesday 29 February. You can use black bags or recycling sacks if you have more than one bag to fill. This is a great way of supporting the school’s PTA without costing you a penny.
Whole School Trip- 20 May
Following the success of last year’s trip, I am pleased to announce the details of this year’s whole school trip to National Gallery and National Portrait Gallery in London.
Date: Tuesday, 20 May 2014
Time 8:30am to 5:00pm
Clothing Full school uniform (coat if cold and damp/sunhat if hot)
Food Packed lunch brought in school bag
As we do not have to pay for the entrance and workshops this year, the total cost of the trip is £2,500 (£9.72 per child). We have managed to secure some funding. Therefore, we are asking for every child to pay £5 towards the trip. If you have a problem with paying this, please arrange to speak to me.
After School Club- 3:15- 6pm.
The After School Club is now up and running. Each session costs £8 and includes a snack. Payment will need to be made in advance. Please ask the School Office for a registration pack.
Launch Day – Monday, 13 January 2014
Just to remind you all that Launch Day will be on Monday, 13 January. We would like the children to come to school dressed in clothing relevant to their topics:
Year 3 Topic – Waltham Abbey – dress as a local historical figure/pilgrim/market trader
Year 4 Topic – Bangladesh – dress in colourful clothes that represent the colours of the Bangladesh flag.
Year 5 Topic – Egyptians – dress in appropriate Egyptian clothing.
Year 6 Topic – Water – dress in something water related e.g. pirate, sailor, navy officer
Can you please make sure that your child has a full PE kit in school, this should include a plain black hoody and track bottoms for when they go outside, especially this time of year when the weather can be really cold!!
