Etienne Stott
This week Olympic Canoeist Etienne Stott visited us in assembly, he talked about his emotions as he was at the start line at Lee Valley, ready to start his winning Olympic run. He said that three things went through his mind. The first thing was that he was going to do his best, no matter what happened he was going to put every effort into his performance. The second was that nobody knows what the future holds. Anything could happen. The third thing was that this was the moment he had been waiting for his whole life. He had wanted to complete this goal/dream of his and this was the moment that it all came down to. He spoke to the children about the task of eating an elephant and that it could be done if you break the elephant down into smaller pieces and ate little chunks at a time, eventually you would have eaten the whole elephant.
Then a couple of children tried on his equipment. After that Etienne came round to the classes so that they could all see the gold medal and have a picture taken with him.
