Headteacher’s Comments
I hope you all had an enjoyable half term. Although the weather was a bit shaky at the beginning and end of the week, for the most part it was nice and sunny. I always look forward to this half term. It is a time for us to celebrate another successful year as well as start planning for the next. Please make sure you look at the dates for the diary. It would be good to see you at the school’s Open Evening and Sports Day.
Whole School Photograph
As last year, at the end of our visit we had a whole school photograph taken. To purchase the photograph (9” by 6”) please return the slip at the bottom of the page. The cost is £3.
Achievements
Thomas Miles and Georgia Bruce (Mrs Campbell’s Class) were sent to me because they answered all the questions correctly about William Shakespeare’s Tempest. Samantha Burton (Mrs Chapman’s Class) received a green card for explaining to the class how October and December were named. Jack Hammond (Miss Gordon/ Mrs Tysterman’s class) earned a green card for getting three gold certificates for learning his 3, 4 and 11 times tables. Voeulya Mbakadi and Jason Hammond earned their green cards for excellent persuasive writing. Mrs Campbell’s class were working hard when they were printing on their launch day on Thursday.
Attendance
Well done to Miss Gibbs’s class who had the best attendance last week. A special mention to Miss Smith’s Class because every single child attended the whole school trip to the Tower of London.
Sports Day
I am sorry but I published the wrong date for Sports Day. It will be held on Wednesday 29 June (if fine) at 9:30pm. The reserve will be held on Friday 1 July at 9:30pm.
Staff Changes
There will be a few staff changes in September. Mrs Whitaker and Mrs Panteli will not be returning from maternity leave. I wish them both well with their new families. Miss Rogers will be joining us as a year four teacher. Mrs Westney is expecting her second child, so Miss Gordon will be covering her classes during maternity leave. On our continued road of school improvement, Mrs Tysterman will be working with groups of children to raise attainment in literacy and maths.

PTA Events
Our first PTA meeting went really well and we have a long list of events that the committee will be organising over the coming year. They have agreed that this year we will be raising money to purchase an outside stage area in the school playground.
