Headteacher’s Comments
It has been again another busy week at school. 41 Year 6 children returned from this year’s residential after having a fantastic time. At District Sports, our boys’ Field Team were runners up, with Teiye Richards coming first in the Year 6 Sprint. Today our swimming teams entered the District Swimming Gala. The girls secured joint 3rd place and the boys 5th place, with Rhys Dolan winning the backstroke race. Overall our swimming team came 5th.
Attendance
Well done to Mrs Watson’s class who had the best attendance this week with 96.9%.
Reports
Your child will come home tonight with their reports. In the reports your child’s class teacher will inform you about your child’s progress. Progress is based upon your child’s attainment at the end of Year 2. The table below shows where your child should be, based upon their attainment at the end of Year 2.
Key Stage One | Year 3 | Year 4 | Year 5 | Year 6 |
W | 1C | 1A | 2B | 2A |
1 | 2C | 2A | 3B | 3A |
2C | 2A | 3B | 4C | 4B |
2B | 3C | 3A | 4B | 4A |
2A | 3B | 4C | 4A | 5C |
3C | 3A | 4B | 5C | 5B |
We monitor all progress very carefully. If your child joined us at a level 2A or 3C they may still be working above the National Average for their year group, but may not have made the progress expected of their ability

Football Maths Challenge
Tricky
FIFA have announced changes to the football kits to be worn in Brazil for the 2014 World Cup.
All teams must select their kit from the following options:
Shirt – red, yellow, orange or green.
Shorts – black, white or blue.
Socks – red or green.
Boots – must be black.
All items have to be made of a single colour. There is to be no patterns, logos or sponsors.
How many different combinations could the teams choose from?
Use the kit outline (available on the maths challenge board) to help you create all the possible kit combinations.
Trickier:
Excluding qualifying and warm up games, how many games would England have to play in order to reach the final?
Trickiest:
Using the team lists, announced by FIFA, can you find the three most common first names of players in the 2014 World Cup?
