Headteacher’s Comment
I can’t believe we are only a week from the end of the term; time just seems to have flown past since January. Next week is an extremely busy one with something happening every day. Please make sure you are aware of what is happening so your child is fully prepared to participate in each of the activities and so the week can run smoothly as possible.

Maths challenge
Hands on Maths
Your challenge is to find different ways that you use maths outside of school. Bring in a photo of this activity and the most interesting way will win a prize at Christmas!
You could be:
Adding up prices in the supermarket
Working out the perimeter of the living room while vacuuming
Cooking and weighing out ingredients
Can you find other ways you use MATHS outside of a MATHS LESSON?
School Performance Tables
The School Performance Tables were published yesterday. I would like to point out three positives:
- The percentage of children making 2 levels progress in reading, writing and maths are now close to or in line with national average.
- The percentage of children achieving a level 4B (secondary ready) in reading, writing and maths increased in 2014
- Attainment for those children in receipt of the Pupil Premium increased last year and the gap in attainment between those children in receipt of the Pupil Premium and those who are not has reduced.
This is great news in our journey to securing good at the next OFSTED judgement. Well done to all the children, teachers and parents who have helped secure this improvement in school improvement.
To see the full School Performance Tables, please follow the link at the bottom of the homepage of the school website (http://www.thelevertonjuniorschool.co.uk). The data on the school website will be updated to reflect these in the new year.
Christmas Mini Reading Challenge
For the second year The Reading Agency (who develop the Summer Reading Challenge every year) are offering a Christmas Mini Challenge from Friday 12 December 2014 to Tuesday 6 January 2015. Children join by updating their profile page on the Summer Reading Challenge Website (http://summerreadingchallenge.org.uk/) or by visiting their local library and borrowing lots of books and downloading stickers from the website as they read them.

Well done to all the children who took part in Leverton’s Got Talent, what a talented bunch of children we have! Well done to Ryan Locke who came first, Alesha Wade who came second and Lennie and Jay Hyams, who came third.
