Headteacher’s Comments

Thank you to all the parents who turned up to the coffee mornings this week.  It was great to hear so many positive thoughts about the school as well as ideas as to how we can work better together.  This week we were invaded by Tudors and Victorians and said a fond farewell to our year 6 children who were being evacuated due to World War II.  All the Launch Days went well and I know those classes who went on trips this week had a thoroughly enjoyable time and learnt lots.

Three classes had 100% attendance last week.  Mrs Sach’s class had fewer late children so her class pipped Miss Gibbs’s Class and Miss Stafford’s Class to the post to win Percy this week.  Well done to Mrs Sach’s class who wins Percy this week and is able to jump the dinner queue.

I would like to remind parents they should avoid taking holidays in school time.  Failure to do this may result in a penalty notice from Essex County Council.

Autumn Fair

Time is ticking away.  There is now only 1 week to go until our first Autumn Fair.  I have attached a poster.  Please display this in your window to encourage as many local residents to support the Fair as possible and help us raise money towards providing a better playground environment.

Harvest Festival

This year we are returning to a more traditional Harvest Festival and are asking you to provide gifts of food that will be distributed to the Salvation Army in Waltham Abbey.  They then give food parcels to local families who are experiencing temporary difficulties.  Please provide tinned or dried food only:

Tinned meat and fish

Baked Beans

Tinned or instant potatoes

Tinned vegetables

Tinned or packet soup

Tinned fruit

Tinned Rice

Packet of pasta

Packet of rice

Pasta Sauce

Boxes of long life milk

Packet of cereal

Tea/ Coffee/ Sugar

Please ask your child to hand in the goods to their class teacher, any time from now to 6 October.

Stars in Their Eyes

Stars in Their Eyes will take place on Friday 25 November.  Auditions will take place after school on Friday 30 September.  Like last year, your child will be expected to know all the words to their song at auditions, so hopefully they have been practising it over the summer holidays.

School Governors

There is still time to return your nomination for one of the 5 vacancies on the school governing body.  The nomination form needs to be returned to the school office by Monday 26 September.

Please make sure all money is in a labelled envelope with your child’s name written on.  Your child should hand it to their class teacher.

Mrs Chapman’s Class

There will a chance for parents of children in Mrs Chapman’s class to meet with Mrs Chapman on Wednesday 21 September between 3:15 and 4pm.
