Headteacher’s Comments

You know one of my ‘swear’ words is attendance.  I really do believe that good attendance is important in order for children to get the best education.  I know that children do get ill but this is a reminder that if your child is off school for more than three days, then we will need medical evidence (a copy of the prescribed medicine or an appointment card) to authorise any of the absence.  Also if you are applying for a leave of absence on the grounds that this is the only time your employer is able to authorise leave, then please provide a letter from your employer.

Well done to Malcolm Alfred-Kamara, Jessica Phillips and Demi Phillips who received Green Cards last week for the good quality homework they produced.  Well done to Leah Hunn for working independently.  Well done to Aaron Jones for working hard last week.  Well done to Kirena Nolan for her excellent independent writing, Holly Whitten and Mia Opinel for working hard in class. Well done to Sophie Square, Michael Phipps, Holly Whitten and Katie Square for excellent effort in Art. Well done to Theodora Shiakallis, Yildiz Halim and Kacey Ashley who received Green Cards from Mrs Pughsley this week.  Lots of good quality artwork has taken place this week.  Ella Freeman, Leah Marshal, Reggie Pegrum and Lauren Byatt received Green Cards for their fantastic observational paintings.  Jack Munns-Watson received a Green Card for this monoprint.  Well done to Rishi, Keeley, Babak, Kai, Jamie, Nicholas, Christopher, Deven, Ben, Melissa, Amy and Lewis (All year 5) who passed their Bikeability this week.  Well done everyone!

Year Six ‘SATs’

Well done to all the year six children who sat their End of Key Stage Two tests this week.

Well done to Miss Smith’s Class who had the best attendance last week.  Miss Smith’s class wins Percy and ‘jumps the dinner queue’.

Governor Questionnaire

On Monday the Governing Body sent out a questionnaire.  These need to be returned next Monday in a sealed envelope marked ‘Governor Questionnaire’.  The governors are meeting next Thursday to go through the responses.

A number of parents have asked if their child can take part in the bikeability courses.  The courses are designed only for Year 5 and 6.  Miss Gibbs is busy arranging some further dates for other children to have bike training.  Watch this space…

Please look inside your child’s book bag every night to check whether there are any letters in there.  Some parents have missed meetings because the letters are still in the bottom of their child’s book bag.

The School Photographer will be in next Tuesday (22 May) to take whole class pictures and a special year-six ‘year book’.
