Headteacher’s Comments
Once again I have had a number of children caught saying inappropriate words. This is completely unacceptable. Please make sure you do not use any swear words/ sexual related words in front of your child. Also please censor the programmes and computer games your child is exposed to. Call of Duty Black Ops II is an 18 certificate, yet I hear children in our school playing it. By swearing/using sexual related words in front of your child and allowing them to play games, then you are giving the message to your child it is acceptable to use these words. It is not!

Messages
One of the school’s priorities this year is to increase children’s independence with their learning. You can help this by:
- Ensuring your child is organised and brings everything into school in the morning.
- Giving money in a named envelope for your child to hand to their class teacher.
- Telling your child in the morning where they will be collected and by whom at the end of the day.
- Reminding your child of clubs they will be attending in the morning.
- Checking your child’s book bag for letters (especially this newsletter).
There has been an increase in the number of messages coming into the Office that need to be passed on to children. Passing on these cause disruptions not only to your child’s learning, but the rest of the children’s learning in your child’s class.
Short Break Carers
Essex County Council is currently recruiting for short break carers. Short break carers offer regular overnight breaks or day care (at weekends, or in the school holidays) for children up to the age of 18 with a range of learning and physical disabilities. This allows parents to recharge their batteries or to concentrate their attention on other children in the family, while their child makes new friendships outside of the family circle.
Short break carers come from all walks of life. They can be working, unemployed or retired, married, single or with a partner. No specific qualifications are necessary, but some understanding or experience of disabilities is helpful.
To become a short break carer you will need to undertake an assessment, which will include safeguarding checks. Following approval, short break carers are carefully matched with a child. All Essex County Council short break carers receive excellent training, support and an hourly or overnight fee.
For more information call 0800 801 530 or visit www.essex.gov.uk/shortbreaks.
