Headteacher’s Comments
Small writing, lots on! Sorry for the small text this week, but there is a lot on the Newsletter. I have tried to add as many dates as possible to the calendar, so you are informed in advance of important dates. Please put them in your diary now! Well done to the Year 6 who performed ‘Grease’ this week. As I said last night, I am always surprised at the number of lines that the lead characters have to remember; the quiet children in class who stand up and shine; the organisation of the stage hands and the courage of the boys who dressed up in curlers and wings!
Achievements
Well done to Ella Dewing, Oliver Roberts, Faith Wade (Mrs Watson’s Class), Tia Joseph (Mrs Raddon’s Class), Raymond Bull, Katie Square (Mrs Westney/ Ms Cromwell’s Class) who received Green Cards this week.
Attendance
Well done to Miss Biggs’s who had the best attendance last week.
Fabulous Finish (Monday 22 July)
Next Monday the whole school will be celebrating their learning with a ‘Fabulous Finish’. If your child wishes, they can dress up in their favourite Launch Day clothing. There will also be a special menu on Monday linked to our themes (Lasagne accompanied by fresh vegetables and a Greek salad followed by Ice-Cream).
Last Day of Term (Tuesday 23 July- 3:15pm)
We finish school next Tuesday (23 July) at the usual time of 3:15pm.
Meet the Teacher Evening (Thursday 5 September 7pm)
Advance notice that our ‘Meet the Teacher’ evening is on Thursday 5 September starting at 7.00pm. This is your chance to meet your child’s new teacher and hear what your child will be getting up to next year.
Cars
This morning two cars were involved in an accident by the gate. I would like to remind parents they should not be parking by the gate and should park on Honey Lane and walk into school.
Swimming Update
When the results were published this week, we noticed that our score hadn’t been added up correctly. Overall we scored 183 points, coming joint second. Well done!

Essex Libraries Summer Reading Challenge 2013- Sensory Story Times
During the summer holidays Essex Libraries will be hosting a series of sensory story times aimed at children. The story times are open to all and we would particularly welcome children with special needs and their families to come along. The sessions will be interactive and focus on one of two stories and will last approximately 30 minutes. They are free to all. Sessions take place at the following libraries:
Harlow Library Thursday 15th August 10.30am
Waltham Abbey Monday 19th August at 2:00 pm
40 Days of Summer – Make everyday an adventure at your Essex Country Park
Car parking on site at one of the Essex Country Parks usually costs a family £2.20 or £3; why not give parents and carers the opportunity to buy a summer special parking ticket for just £10 to cover unlimited parking throughout the full 40 Days of Summer holidays? Parking tickets will be valid from day of purchase until Monday 2 September 2013 and can be bought online from Monday 1 July 2013 at www.visitparks.co.uk/2013
Free Learn to Fish Taster Sessions
Free Learn to Fish Taster Sessions are taking place at Puddledock Farm, Upminster RM14 3NX on 29 and 30 July 2013 and Chigboro Fishery, MaldonCM9 4RE on 6 August 2013. This is the fifth year the sessions are taking place and are funded by the Environment Agency.
Each session lasts 30 minutes and are provided by a qualified angling coach. All ages and abilities are welcome, although children aged between 3 and 16 must be accompanied by an adult. The first session begins at 9.30am and will run until 4pm, when the last session begins. It will be offered on a first come first served basis. Due to popularity, there is no pre-booking system available, but as sessions are short there is seldom a lengthy wait!
