Headteacher’s Comments
I would like to thank parents for supporting the school and in turn supporting their children last week. First of all to all the parents who turned up to our Autumn Fair and secondly for those who attended the coffee mornings.
Achievements
The following children visited me this week because they received Green Cards: Leo Strange (Mrs Sach’s Class), Demi Hoffman, Jay Hyams and Samaya Kaleel (Mrs Raddon’s Class), Rhiannon Margetson, Kyla Erkan and Charlie Pegrum (Mrs Pughsley’s Class), Jessica Smith (Miss O’Riordan) Molly-Rose Fells, Lewis Clark and Lucy Phillips (Miss Wood’s Class) for excellent holiday homework. Well done everyone!
Attendance
Well done to Miss O’Riodan’s class who had a perfect 100% attendance last week.
PTA Meeting
There will be a PTA meeting on Monday (24 September) starting at 9am. There may even be some cakes!
King Harold Road Show
The King Harold Road show will be next Tuesday (25 September) at 6:30pm.
Macmillan Coffee Morning
Mrs Thorogood is organising a coffee morning in aid of Macmillan Nurses next Friday (28 September). Please join her in dining room from 9am.
Harvest Festival (Year 3)
As you may already be aware, our Harvest Festival celebrations are coming up. Please could we ask that children bring in their costume (if they have a speaking part) or farmer style clothing (checked shirt/ jeans) or clothes in autumnal colours ready for the performance in a named plastic bag by Monday 1 October. The performance will take place on Friday 5 October at 1:30pm.
Harvest Festival (All Years)
Please could children from each class bring in dried foods and tins for our Harvest Festival by Thursday 4 October e.g. tinned soup, tea bags etc. No fresh food/ fruit/vegetables.
One child from each class will take these items to a Year 3 class each morning where we will collect the items, ready to display on the day of our Harvest Festival before it is donated to the Salvation Army. Thank you in advance for any contributions.
Autumn Fair
Thank you to everyone who supported this year’s Autumn Fair. I had a lot of positive comments on the great atmosphere. Members of the PTA worked extremely hard to raise £670.
Toilet
This is a reminder that children are expected to go to the toilet during their break and lunchtimes so they are ready to start learning as soon as they return to classroom. We encourage the children not to go to the toilet during a lesson, but where this is unavoidable, especially during the long afternoon, teachers are fair and do allow children to go to the toilet.
Theatre Trip
After the huge success in February of the Shrek theatre trip, the PTA is organising another theatre trip to see the evening performance of Lion King, the West End Musical, on Thursday 7 February 2013. The cost is £35.00 per child or adult, for best seats, including coach travel from school. A flyer will be sent out on Monday giving full details.
Labelling of Uniform
Please make sure all items of your child’s uniform are labelled with their name. If it is lost it can be returned quickly to the child. Also, please check daily whether your child has not brought home other children’s uniform by mistake.
Art Club
This will be starting shortly. Anyone interested in joining should bring a piece of art work they did over the holidays, for example on the Olympics, sea side trip etc. It should be on A4 paper and given to Ms McConnell as soon as possible. The cost to join will be £1.50 per session. So, get drawing! Limited places are available.
Reading
Please make sure your child reads daily with you.
