Welcome to all the Year 2 children who joined us today. I hope you enjoyed your day. I was really pleased with Open Evening. Thank you to everyone who attended, I hope you found it useful. Open Evening saw our first PTA organised event. Thank you to all the parents who turned up and helped raise £141.96.
Well done to Mai-Lei Chan, Holly Morris and Amber Brooks (Ms Stafford’s Class) who were sent round for good quality work they had produced. I saw an avalanche of Year 3 children who have been working hard. Lauren Stergess-Hall and Kirstie Marshall (Miss Bigg’s Class) were sent to me because they have been working hard to learn their times tables since joining our school this year. Aidan Mead, Jack Hammond, Tylah Cox and Alfie Wright (Miss Gordon/ Mrs Tysterman’s class) were sent to me for doing well in their maths task. Ben Brooks (Miss Smith’s Class) came to see me because he has been presenting his work neatly.
Fingers crossed that the weather is fine next Wednesday for Sports Day. Approximate times are as follows:
11:00am Finish- Opportunity to speak to your child
11:20am Children back to classes
This is a reminder that this year the teams will be as follows:

The children already know which team they are in. As in previous years there will be a mixture of bases for the children to visit, followed by races.
The PTA committee will be running a stall on the day selling Bacon Rolls/ Teas/ Coffees/ Soft Drinks and Ice Poles. Children will be able to purchase drinks/ ice poles at break time (11:00 to 11:20am).

Year 6 Residential Meeting
This is a reminder to parents of children who are going on the residential trip that there is a meeting next Friday (1 July) starting at 2.00pm.
We have a number of vacancies for Parent Governors. This is your chance to help move the school from ‘Good’ to ‘Outstanding’. You will be receiving a letter and a nomination form in September. Please speak with me if you would like to know more about what being a School Governor involves.
As you have probably heard in the news, members of the ATL and NUT unions will be holding a strike next Thursday regarding proposed changes to public sector pensions. I am pleased to inform you that none of the teachers at our school will be on strike so school will be open as usual.
Mrs Miller, our school cook, has been working in the school kitchen for 25 years! Everyone at The Leverton Junior School would like to congratulate Mrs Miller. Here is to the next 25 years!
Well done to Miss Gordon/ Mrs Tysterman’s class who had the best attendance last week and won Percy.
