Thank you to all the parents who attended the Coffee Mornings and Dads’ Drinks this week. Your feedback on the school’s teaching and Learning Policy was most valuable. For those parents who were unable to attend the meeting but would still like to contribute, over the next few weeks I will be posting the questions that were asked. Simply answer the questions and return to the school.

Whole School Trip- 20 May
Following the success of last year’s trip, I am pleased to announce the details of this year’s whole school trip to National Gallery and National Portrait Gallery in London.
Date: Tuesday, 20 May 2014
Time 8:30am to 5:00pm
Clothing Full school uniform (coat if cold and damp/sunhat if hot)
Food Packed lunch brought in school bag
As we do not have to pay for the entrance and workshops this year, the total cost of the trip is £2,500 (£9.72 per child). We have managed to secure some funding. Therefore, we are asking for every child to pay £5 towards the trip. If you have a problem with paying this, please arrange to speak to me.
All the children in Year 4 are trialling DB Primary. Those parents who attended the Coffee Mornings spoke very positively about it and I have seen a lot of great work being posted. Please do check it regularly as messages may appear.
Also, some children have found that if they click ‘finish’ then their spellings disappear. The children are being reminded not to click finish.
I would like to remind parents and children, in accordance with the school’s Acceptable Use Policy, “Intentional misuse whilst unsupervised will result in removal of access to this privilege for a period of time.” It is best practice:
- to ensure your child uses the internet in your view
- that time limits are given to your child to be on the internet
- to check your child’s profile regularly to ensure it doesn’t contain personal information and information that shouldn’t be shared.
Our school website has recently been updated by:
- updating the school’s current performance
- renaming the tabs so it is easy to navigate
- allowing children to log on to DB Primary on every page
- updating the School Behaviour Policy and the Parent/Carer’s Guide to School Attendance (found in School Policies)
- adding the school’s Term Dates
- adding information about the Special Education Needs provision at our school, along with the Annual Special Educational Needs Report
- updating the school’s current performance for children who are entitled to Pupil Premium
- adding information how the school is spending the Sports Premium money and the schools aims for improving sports provision
- adding a children’s section where children can download times tables ‘Speed Test’ charts to practise at home
Crossing the Car Park
Please speak to your child about crossing the car park in a safe manner. A number of children are running across the car park without stopping and looking whether cars are moving.
Times Table Club
Parents have said they would like a reminder when Times Table Club is on. This is an opportunity for pupils to achieve their bronze, silver, gold and platinum awards and to practise their speed tests. Pupils will need to bring their white progress books with them so their attendance and achievement can be recorded.

Thursday from 12:45 Year 5 and 6 drop in session Library
