I would like to take this opportunity to remind you of the following advice from the Educational Welfare Service:

The current law does not give any entitlement to parents to take their child out of school during term time. The Education (Pupil Registration) (England) (Amendment) Regulations 2013 prohibits Headteachers granting leave of absence to a pupil except where an application has been made in advance and the Headteacher considers that there are exceptional circumstances relating to the application.

If you do take your child out of school for this time after applying for a leave of absence and it not being granted, the absences will not be authorised and the Education Welfare Service may issue a penalty notice to each parent of £60 for each child to be paid within 21 days. If the penalty is not paid within the time scale the penalty will increase to £120. If the higher penalty is not paid within 28 days, the Education Welfare Service will then institute legal proceedings against you in the magistrate’s court under Section 444 of the Education Act 1996 for failing to ensure your child attends school regularly.

Well done to Jacob Martinelli (Mrs Watson’s Class), Reggie Pegrum, Ella Freeman, Taya Hunter (Mrs Haslehurst’s Class) who received Green Cards this week.

Well done to Miss Kent’s class who had the best attendance this week with 99.4%.

Last Day of Term (13 February)

This is a reminder that next Thursday (13 February) is the last day of this half term.  Children finish at the usual time of 3:15pm.

Whole School Trip- 20 May

Following the success of last year’s trip, I am pleased to announce the details of this year’s whole school trip to National Gallery and National Portrait Gallery in London.

Date:                Tuesday, 20 May 2014

Time                8:30am to 5:00pm

Cost                 £5

Clothing           Full school uniform (coat if cold and damp/sunhat if hot)

Food                Packed lunch brought in school bag

As we do not have to pay for the entrance and workshops this year, the total cost of the trip is £2,500 (£9.72 per child).  We have managed to secure some funding.  Therefore, we are asking for every child to pay £5 towards the trip.  If you have a problem with paying this, please arrange to speak to me.

After School Club- 3:15- 6pm.

The After School Club is now up and running.  Each session costs £8 and includes a snack.  Payment will need to be made in advance.  Please ask the School Office for a registration pack.
